Remedy to strengthen the heart

The cinnamon powder as heart fortifier is an Ayurvedic remedy to strengthen the heart.

The heart tonic: Early in the morning after cleaning your mouth. Prepare this mixture, add one teaspoon of honey and mix thoroughly with one teaspoon of cinnamon powder, then slowly lick the mixture.  Take this tonic on an empty stomach for two weeks daily.

Cinnamon is a spice produced after removing the woody part of the stems and the inner bark of stems dried to form rolls of sticks and crushed into powder. Scientifically is known as Cinnamomum.

Historically, dating back to the ancient Egyptian period and its rarity, the value cinnamon was regarded as gifts equivalent to kings and queens. Today cinnamons’ availability all over the world is affordable to anyone in the supermarket. Used as an ingredient in various cooking, baking desserts, and savory recipes added to many foods across all cultures as Portuguese traders spread the use of this unique spices worldwide.

There are few types of cinnamon: Ceylon cinnamon is also known as “true cinnamon,” commonly used and available around the world. And cassia cinnamon the more common variety today and what people generally refer to as “cinnamon.”

Cinnamon sticks or powder is produced essentially by cutting the stems of cinnamon trees after the outer hard bark part of the cinnamon tree is removed. The inner core layer is extracted and dried to form curls that roll up into sticks or ground into powder. Cinnamon’s distinct fragrance and characteristic flavor are due to the main constituents of  Transcinnamaldehyde, cinnamyl acetate, eugenol, which form the oily part, which is very high in the compound cinnamaldehyde.

Benefits of cinnamon:  The high content of cinnamaldehyde is responsible for most of cinnamon’s health benefits. The use of cinnamon in Ayurvedic medicine is for people with diabetes, lower blood sugar, and balance cholesterol. This cinnamaldehyde compound is responsible for most of cinnamon’s potent effects on health and metabolism. Today scientific evidence indicates equivalent influences. 

Cinnamon is rich in antioxidants, and polyphenols protect against the damage in the body indicate oxidation due to free radicals. Studies of oxidative stress on cell bodies showed antioxidant activity, and cinnamon outranked 26 varieties of spices. Cinnamon is extremely effective as a natural food preservative.
