Honestly, this is one of my quick personal recipes of choice; 1st WHY? Will give you three reason and the 2nd WHY?

First why? Ans: 1. Indisputably healthy. 2. Fully nutritious. 3. Keeps you satisfied all day.

Second Why? A. Tamarind is genuinely the brain booster in a very positive way. With many valuable minerals, including magnesium as a primer. I love the naturally occurring tangy sweetness and natural sour taste having only one side effect. A tremendous brain booster.  🙂                                                                                                                                                                                        B. Tofu is a powerhouse of amino acids indispensable for life. The cells are happy to find all the amino acids at one source to manufacture protein for the entire body. No confusion in the system, easy pizzy protein production!  🙂                                   C. Alages have the most basic atomic structure of all the minerals you can find in the ocean, vital for our body.  🙂

These three alliance of Tofu, tamarind, algae beats everything. Adore Tofu Wakame Nori Steak as a snack or complete meal. Easy to digest, absolutely yummylicious, and super-duper healthy. What can else can I say.  ENJOY!

My go-to flawless meal. Prepare this recipe ahead for that busy day. The Wakame adds a rich element of umami to the dish, while the tamarind sauce gives it an irresistible tangy flavor. Although there’s a distinct flavor from nori that would remind one of seafood, it also makes the tofu taste full-bodied, much like a steak.

So next time you want to add something significant taste to your menu. Follow the recipe below to learn more.  You can learn how to make your own tamarind sauce from this other recipe.

Tofu algae steak

Serves: 4-5
Cooking Time: 30 min

Ingredients

  • 1 block (250 grams) of semi-firm tofu, sliced into 1/2 inch or 1 cm slices
  • 1 sheet Wakame algae soaked in water
  • 1/2 cup tamarind sauce
  • 1 cup fresh mung bean sprouts
  • For Nori Steak
  • 1 to 2 Nori sheets
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 tsp toasted sesame oil

Instructions

1

In a saucepan over high heat, add few drops of roasted sesame oil and sear the tofu for a few minutes until golden brown. Flip over to do the same on the other side.

2

Remove from heat and place on a plate, adding a generous serving of tamarind sauce, sprouts, and algae.

3

To prepare the Nori steak.

4

To make marinade mix the remaining sesame oil with the lemon juice and soy sauce in a cup.

5

Soak the Nori sheets in the marinade. One way is to soak the nori sheet into the sauce. The other is to smash the nori and soak it in the sauce and apply the nori pulp on the tofu surface.

6

And yet another way is to dip the nori algae into marinade sauce and wrap the nori sheet around the tofu.

7

Place it on the serving plate and garnish with tamarind sauce and salads or some steamed veggies, e.g., Broccoli, carrots, sprouts, and pesto, etc.

Notes

Once you have made the tofu steaks, you can add all kinds of stuff for a starter or a main meal. Enjoy!
