How to Make an Avocado Rose

FavoriteLoadingAdd to Favorites

Avocado rose adds stunning elegance to any dish. Add physalis fruit, and you will have a fun, tasty, and beautiful display. Creamy and with a vibrant texture and nutrient profile, avocado is indeed a fruit of its kind. Unlike most fruits with high carb content, avocado is rich in healthy fats. Because of its creamy texture, avocado is used in many dishes as a compliment, but it is most common in guacamole as the star ingredient.

Avocado is endowed with vitamins C, B5, B6, E, K, Folate, Copper, Manganese, Iron, Potassium, and Phosphorus. Amazingly, as fatty as avocado is, it does not contain any saturated fats or cholesterol, and it also does not contain any sodium. As a result, avocado plays an essential role in promoting heart health thanks to its high monounsaturated fat levels that lower the body’s harmful cholesterol levels. It also helps lower blood sugar levels and reduces inflammation.

The high-fat content of avocado also helps your body absorb nutrients such as vitamins and antioxidants from other foods such as fruit and veggies. In addition, avocado comes elegantly packed by nature as a complete meal. Back to our recipe, the trick to creating a beautiful avocado rose lies squarely in preparing the avocado slices.

  1. Do not use an avocado that is too ripe for you to get nice clean slices.
  2. Cut the avocado in half, skin the halves, lay the cut side of each half down on the cutting board, and slice it into thin, even pieces.
  3. Next, gently line them into a straight diagonal line.
  4. Then from one edge, begin to curve them inwards into a circular shape to form a rose.
  5. Then finally, garnish with physalis fruit or a salad of your choice, and use as many colorful fruits and leaves as you can.

The Rose trick is to slice as thinly as you can, though not so thin that it breaks or is too thick and difficult to curve without cracking on the fold.

Nutritional Benefits: Avocados are packed with vitamins, good fats, and fiber. They contain monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats that help lower bad cholesterol levels, therein boosting your cardiovascular health. In addition, avocado contains a gram of fiber for every tablespoon. Fiber helps cut cholesterol, lower blood sugar and even prevent colon cancer. The high fat and fiber content in avocado keeps you full longer, which is great for someone trying to lose weight and keep their blood sugar from spiking.
