Ingredients

  • 1 cup of wheat berries

Instructions

1

Soak the wheat berries in water for six hours.

2

Drain the water, place the wheat berries in a large plastic water bottle with a lid on it or bowl with a cover, and keep it warm for a day.

3

Next, prepare a 45 x 25 x 6 cm tray (18 x 10 x 2.5 inch) with a layer of fresh earth about 4-5 cm (2.5 inches) deep.

4

When wheat berries are slightly sprouted, spread the berries evenly over the fresh earth on the tray. Place the tray of soil in a warm place and cover the tray with a damp sheet of paper and leave wheat berries to sprout inside the tray.

5

For the next few days, spray the sprouts daily with a mist of water and keep them covered with damp paper.

6

After about one week, depending on the temperature of the place you live in, the sprouts will have grown to at least 17- 20 cm/ 6-7 inches.

7

To make the wheatgrass juice, cut the grass 2cm or an inch above the base and juice it in a blender with 1/2 cup of water.

8

Pour the mixture into a bowl lined with cheesecloth and squeeze the fresh juice.

9

YOu can take this juice daily, in a small quantity of 20-30 ml shot. There you have it, the fresh green gold juice for new health.

10

To scale up the process, you can continue the soaking once a week and repeat the process to have a supply for as many weeks as you want to take them.

11

Sprouting 2 cups of berries will require more space, time, and energy for processing.

12

Finally, the wheatgrass will turn yellow if left to grow to maturity, and the grass will lose all its chlorophyll. To prevent that, pay attention to the leaves as they grow and harvest the tender sprout leave when they are very dark green.

13

Once the leaves are harvested, preparing and consuming the juice immediately is best. You may also pack the access wheatgrass into zip-lock bags and refrigerate them for two days. Once harvested, it's best to press the juice and consuming.

Notes

You can buy these wheat berries in most health food stores. Organic berries are not genetically modified.
