Honestly, this is one of my quick personal recipes of choice; first, why? I will give you three reasons and then a second why.
First why? Answer: 1. Indisputably healthy. 2. Fully nutritious. 3. Keeps you satisfied all day.
Second why? A. Tamarind is genuinely a brain booster with many valuable minerals, including magnesium. I love its naturally tangy sweetness and natural sour taste, with only one side effect – a tremendous brain boost. 🙂
B. Tofu is a powerhouse of amino acids essential for life. It provides all the amino acids needed to manufacture protein, making protein production easy and efficient! 🙂
C. Algae possess the most basic atomic structure of all ocean minerals, vital for our body. 🙂
These three ingredients – tofu, tamarind, and algae – work in alliance to create a dish that beats everything. Enjoy Tofu Wakame Nori Steak as a snack or a complete meal. It’s easy to digest, absolutely delicious, and super healthy. What more can I say? ENJOY!
My go-to flawless meal. Prepare this recipe ahead for those busy days. The wakame adds a rich element of umami to the dish, while the tamarind sauce gives it an irresistible tangy flavor. Although the nori has a distinct flavor that might remind you of seafood, it also imparts a full-bodied taste to the tofu, much like a steak.
So next time you want to add something significant to your menu, follow the recipe below to learn more. You can also learn how to make your own tamarind sauce from this other recipe.
Tofu Wakame Nori Steak
A quick and nutrient-rich tofu steak infused with wakame, tamarind, and nori flavors, offering a hearty and satisfying vegetarian meal.
Ingredients
- 1 block (250 grams) of semi-firm tofu, sliced into 1/2 inch or 1 cm slices
- 1 sheet Wakame algae, soaked in water
- 1/2 cup tamarind sauce
- 1 cup fresh mung bean sprouts
- For Nori Steak:
- 1 to 2 Nori sheets
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon toasted sesame oil
Instructions
Heat a saucepan over high heat and add a few drops of roasted sesame oil. Sear the tofu for a few minutes on each side until golden brown.
Remove the tofu from heat and place it on a plate. Drizzle generously with tamarind sauce, then top with fresh mung bean sprouts and wakame algae.
For the Nori Steak:
In a cup, mix 1 tablespoon lemon juice, 1 tablespoon soy sauce, and 1 teaspoon toasted sesame oil to create a marinade.
Soak the Nori sheets in the marinade. You may either dip a whole sheet or break it into a pulp and spread it over the tofu.
Arrange the soaked Nori on the tofu and garnish with additional tamarind sauce along with a side of steamed vegetables such as broccoli, carrots, and sprouts.
