Avocado Patê

During my visit to the Mediterranean region on the Portuguese coast in the Algarve, I made a tour and gave lectures in several towns; then, I spent some days with one of my older students and his wife and two very young children. On one of the days, his wife asked me to help her prepare lunch and make a sauce for salad, among other things. So naturally, being my usual self, I looked around the kitchen and saw the available ingredients were tangerines and avocado.

So I peeled the tangerine skin, added the segments or, more properly, carpels into the blender, then the avocado with some salt and liquefied all the ingredients into a smooth paste. The distinctness and special taste of this particular patê is the orange skin flavor. A mild, tangy-sweet, and soft spread of avocado makes this recipe unique, which the family really enjoyed.

Tangerines and Avocados offer a host of nutritional benefits. Tangerines are lower in calories when compared to oranges, and they also contain more vitamin A than oranges do. They are also rich in thiamin, potassium, and folate, making them free radical-fighting powerhouse and a great immune booster.

On the other hand, avocados are a rich source of healthy fats, vitamins C, B6, E and K, magnesium, and potassium. Avocados are great for your skin and hair and also boost your cardiovascular health, help in weight loss due to the fiber and fat content that keeps you full longer. Avocados also help lower blood sugar levels.

This is the sentient diet version of sweet cream cheese. It’s the perfect treat to make when avocados are in season and you are in the mood for a well-adorned cracker and ‘cream cheese’ platter with grapes and a host of your favorite fruit. We use very simply and natural ingredients: avocado, tangerine, tangerine zest, and salt, then blend them until light and creamy.

This recipe is delicious as-is; you don’t need to add any other thing. If you like crostini, try it with this avocado patê, and you will not have it any other way. It also makes a great snack for babies as it is creamy and filled with healthy fats, protein, and vitamins to help in their healthy growth.

This is best enjoyed fresh, so make small batches that will not have any leftover. Moreover, it’s such a simple process to create, so you will not feel as if it’s a hustle. Enjoy the easiest spread ever!
